Load - Privacy Policy

Load ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Load mobile app ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

 

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

 

Account Information

• Email address (for account creation and login)
• User ID (generated by Supabase upon signup)

 

Fitness and Health Data

• Workout logs (exercises, sets, reps, weight, RPE/RIR)
• Body composition data (weight, lean mass, fat mass, body fat percentage if entered)
• Program data (created programs, blocks, splits, frequency)
• Load Score calculations and muscle group strength metrics

 

Device and Usage Information

• Device type, OS version, and app version (for crash reporting and performance)
• IP address and approximate location (for analytics and security, anonymized)

 

We do not collect:

• Precise location
• Photos, videos, audio, contacts, or messages
• Financial information (payments handled by Apple App Store / Google Play)
• Sensitive personal information (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.)

 

2. How We Collect Information

• Directly from you - when you create an account, log workouts, enter body composition, or create programs.
• Automatically - device info, usage patterns, and performance data (anonymized).
• Through third-party services:
- Supabase (backend for auth, data storage, sync) - collects email and user ID for authentication.
- Apple HealthKit (optional, if connected) - fitness data with your explicit permission.

 

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the App (workout tracking, Load Score, program building).
• To sync your data across devices (when online).
• To analyze usage trends (anonymized, aggregated).
• To generate personalized AI coaching insights (see section 4 below).
• To communicate with you (support emails, app updates).

 

We do NOT:
• Sell your personal data.
• Use your data for advertising or marketing.
• Share your data with third parties except as described in section 4.

 

4. AI Coaching & Third-Party Data Sharing

Load offers optional AI-powered coaching features that provide personalized insights and suggestions based on your workout logs, body composition data, Load Score, recovery metrics, and training goals.

To deliver these AI features, we send anonymized training data to OpenAI (openai.com), including:

• Workout history (exercises, sets, reps, weights, RPE/RIR)
• Body composition trends (lean/fat mass, body fat percentage)
• Load Score and muscle group strength metrics
• Selected training goals

We do not send personally identifiable information (name, email address, user ID, or any direct identifiers).

You must explicitly consent before any data is sent to OpenAI. The first time you attempt to use an AI coaching feature, the App will display a clear explanation of what data is shared, who receives it (OpenAI), and ask for your permission. You can revoke consent at any time in Settings - AI Coaching - Toggle off.

OpenAI processes this data solely to generate coaching insights and is contractually required to protect it in accordance with applicable privacy laws (see OpenAI's privacy policy: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy). We do not retain copies of the data sent for AI purposes beyond what is necessary for the immediate response.

Load does not support user-generated content sharing, social features, or community interaction. All data is private to your account.

 

5. Data Storage and Security

• Data is stored securely on Supabase servers (encrypted in transit and at rest).
• Local offline data is stored on your device using secure storage (expo-secure-store and expo-sqlite).
• We use industry-standard security measures, but no method is 100% secure.

 

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. You can delete your data anytime in Settings - Data & Privacy - Delete Account/Data.

 

7. Your Rights

• Access, correct, or delete your data - go to Settings in the App.
• Export your data - available in Settings.
• Opt out of AI features and third-party sharing - Settings - AI Coaching toggle.
• Opt out of optional HealthKit integration anytime.

 

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

 

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
